Frequently Asked Questions

01

What is Online Notarization

A legally recognized way to get your document notarized anywhere in the world. All you need is your documents uploaded and an unexpired form of identification.

02

Can I use my smartphone for virtual notarization?

Yes. Some of the older versions of smartphones might not be compatible. But you just need a steady internet connection and a smartphone with a camera.

03

Do I have to be in Illinois to notarize a document virtually?

No Geographic Limitations. When it comes to virtual notarization, the world becomes your oyster. One of the most significant advantages of this modern approach to notarization is that it transcends geographical limitations. Regardless of where you or your clients are located, virtual notarization can accommodate your needs.

04

What do I need for my appointment?

Valid Identification: Have a valid, unexpired form of identification ready. This is usually a government-issued ID like a driver's license or passport. The notary will ask you to show this identification during the video session to verify your identity.

Digital Copies of Documents: Ensure you have digital copies of the documents that require notarization.

Access to a Computer or Mobile Device: You will need access to a computer, tablet, or smartphone with a stable internet connection to join the video conference with the notary. Make sure your device has a working camera and microphone.

A Quiet and Well-Lit Space: Find a quiet, well-lit space where you can participate in the video conference without interruptions. This ensures that the notary can clearly see and hear you during the session.

05

Do you travel to hospitals?

Yes, we provide in person or remote notarizations to individuals in health care settings.

06

Is RON Legal and Regonized?

Illinois notaries are authorized to perform online notarizations pursuant to 5 Ill. Comp. Stat. 312/3-105 & 312/6A-101 et seq (effective upon the adoption of rules). Additionally, Illinois honors online notarizations properly completed by notaries commissioned in other states, under the authority of 765 Ill. Comp. Stat. 30/2 & 5/20 and 5 Ill. Comp. Stat. 255/6.
